Getting to Dunster Village

Travel to Dunster by Car

From the north – If you are travelling from Manchester take the M6 south and follow this down to the M5, here follow this south until you reach Junction 24 – Bridgwater, leave the motorway here and follow the road and then signs for A39 Minehead. It will take you through the outskirts of Bridgwater Town and join the A39 at Cannington. Follow this road and when you reach Williton keep following the the A39 (signposted A39 Minehead) which will take you to Dunster.

From the south – If travelling by car from the south east, leave the M5 at junction 23 and join the A38 to the A39 following the signs for Minehead. Dunster is just a mile or two before you reach Minehead.

For a more scenic journey that will go past Stonehenge, take the M3 heading West then turn off to the A303 at junction 12.
Turn off the A303 (after approx 83 miles) onto the A358 towards Taunton. When you reach Williton take the A39 which will take you to Dunster.

 

Travel to Dunster by Coach or Bus

If travelling from London, you can get the National Express from London Victoria to Taunton, this takes between 3 and half to 4 and half hours and the latter will stop more often and takes longer.
From the North of England, National Express also does coaches from Manchester and Birmingham to Taunton, these take between 7 hours from Manchester or just over 4 hours from Birmingham.
Once you reach Taunton Railway Station or other parts of Taunton you can take the number 28 bus to the Dunster Steep bus stop, this bus journey from Taunton is just around 50 minutes.

Travel to Dunster by Train

The Trains direct from London Paddington to Taunton take just under 2 hours. Then from Taunton Railway Station you can take the number 28 bus to the Dunster Steep bus stop, this bus journey is around 50 minutes. Alternatively, there’s a Hertz Car Hire at the train station and taxis are also available if you have rented with Enterprise who are on the other side of Taunton.

 

Travel to Dunster by Air

With the nearest airport being Bristol, they have cars available to hire and collect when you arrive. If you don’t have car hire from Bristol Airport you can get taxi 15 minutes to Yatton and catch the train to Taunton, then you can take the number 28 bus to Dunster Steep bus stop.
