Dig Porlock Village 2014 is a community archaeology project The aim is to focus on the history and archaeology of Porlock using archaeological techniques such as sample excavation, historic buildings and historic landscape analysis.

Porlock Summer Show

The Summer Show has flower, vegetable and soft fruit classes as well as handicrafts and photography. There are also decorative classes (such as flower arranging), homemade drinks classes (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and classes for children. Entries are open to everyone, so come along and have a go! This beautiful old church is decked with flowers for the weekend. There are recitals by local musicians, and an evening concert on 2nd August. Refreshments are available in church at most times.

Go Wild in Porlock

Join us for an exciting weekend of discovery with walks, talks and many other activities. This event is suitable for all age groups and especially families. We will explore the varied habitats of Porlock Vale and find the fauna and flora that live here. From shingle ridge to high moorland with farmland, ancient woodlands and fast running streams - there are so many opportunities to discover something new. Car parking and toilets at the main venue. Please wear suitable clothing if taking part in a walk.

Smugglers Run

Teams of smugglers try to evade and outwit the excisemen while carrying barrels across Porlock Marsh! Fun for all - spectators and participants - fancy dress optional. The teams will leave the Top Ship in Porlock at noon and finish up at the Bottom Ship in Porlock Weir.

The Visitor Centre and Porlock have a close connection to Ada Lovelace (1815 – 1852) who is often referred to as the world\'s first computer programmer. Her birth date, 15th October, is celebrated widely around the world.

Simonsbath Festival

Simonsbath Festival returns in 2014 to entertain, dazzle and educate its audience, young and old. The joyous celebration includes a film premiere, top class international musicians, classical, jazz, folk and world music, opera, talks, walks, workshops, family activity days and an art exhibition. Taking its usual calendar slot from May Day to Midsummer, the festival runs from Bank Holiday Monday May 5 to Friday June 20 in its glorious moorland setting right in the heart of Exmoor.
