Exmoor Society - Porlock Group - Archeological Field Trip

Simonsbath revealed - Recent archeological work in Simonsbath is revealing how the village was developed including the building of a great mansion never completed, the gardens of which are only now being uncovered. A walk led by ENP staff will explain the story of the village and the results of the current research. There may also be a chance to visit the Sawmill. Optional lunch beforehand at the Exmoor Forest Inn

Exmoor Society - Porlock Group - Visit to Cotleigh's Brewery

A visit to Cotleigh's Brewery at Wiveliscombe. Following a provided light lunch, there will be a guided tour of the Brewery, after which there will be an optional led walk around the village.

Somerset Wildlife Trust bring to Porlock a celebration of the coast and creativity. The three day event provides a fantastic opportunity to learn about the diverse habitat that makes up the coastline and inspires artists using a variety of mediums

Exmoor Coast Festival -Events in Porlock Vale - Exmoor's World Championship Crabbing Competition

Come along to Porlock Weir and try your hand at crab fishing. Everyone is eligible to compete for the coveted trophy handmade by Bristol Blue Glass. All ages welcome. Please bring your own crabbing line, bucket and bait.

Porlock Horticultural and Crafts Society Summer Show:

With floral classes including roses, Sweet Peas, hydrangeas and herbaceous perennials and other classes including vegetables, fruit, decorative, handicrafts and photographs this really is a show for everyone. There are also plant sales, a raffle and refreshments are available. What a great way to spend the afternoon, whatever the weather!

Smugglers Run

Amended date.
Teams of smugglers try to evade and outwit the excisemen while carrying barrels across Porlock Marsh! Fun for all - spectators and participants - fancy dress optional. The teams will leave the Top Ship in Porlock at noon and finish up at the Bottom Ship in Porlock Weir.

The Visitor Centre and Porlock have a close connection to Ada Lovelace (1815 1852) who is often referred to as the world's first computer programmer. Her birth date, 15th October, is celebrated widely around the world.
